We'll meet at 6:30 at the Circle K at 1st St. and 4th Ave. We'll leave by 7:00. If you're late, you can follow the route below to catch up. Have breakfast before you show up because we aren't planning a breakfast stop.
We will take the freeway to the Hwy 98 and take that through Calexico and on to Ocotillo where we will stop for gas. Then we will hop back on Hwy 8 and ride up to the Julian turnoff at Hwy 79 and on into Julian.
We can eat lunch at Julian or, as suggested by V, ride another 10 miles to St. Isabell casino for lunch. Then we can wander the streets of Julian and have some apple pie before heading back.
We will take Hwy 78 out of Julian which will take us out to the Salton Sea and then through Brawley, Holtville and back to Yuma.
It takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to ride from Yuma to Julian and the same back. We'd like to be home by around 5:00 so we will have to leave Julian around 1:00.
It may get a little chilly up in the mountains so bring a jacket or other warm riding gear. Also, bring a helmet as they are required in California. See you at the Circle K. |
