Desert Riders Yuma, AZ For the thrill of the ride! |
These are only a few of our many previous rides
Sedona |
We took a three-day ride from Yuma to Prescott and then through Jerome and the Sedona area. We spent the first night in Prescott and had a great dinner at the Prescott Brewing Company. Next morning we left for Jerome where we had breakfast at the Red Rooster Cafe. Then a ride down the mountain and through Sedona to Oak Creek Canyon. What a beautiful ride! At the top of the Canyon we headed down Hwy 17 and stopped at Montezuma's Castle before heading back to Prescott. On Monday we headed back to Yuma. Lots of really scenic roads with challenging turns and beautiful views. Click Here for pictures. |
| Lake Havasu December 21,22, '08 |
A nice overnight ride. We rode straight up to Lake Havasu on Highway 95. When we got there we checked into the motel and went to a Christmas play, "It's A Wonderful Life". Great play and the lead actor sounded just like Jimmy Stewart. After dinner at the brewery/resturant, we rode the ferry to the casino where we helped the local economy. The ride home was especially nice, as we took the California side down from Parker to Yuma. |
Julian |
We had a nice ride to Julian. It was a little windy leaving Yuma but calmed down by the time we got to Holtville. We went up Hwy 86 to Hwy 79 and up the mountain to Julian. After a walk around town and some great apple pie, we headed down the mountain to S2 and along the Butterfield Stage route to Hwy 8. We took the back road through Calexico and back to Yuma. |
| El Faro Orphanage Margueria, Mexico Jan, '08 |
For the second year we rode with the Christian Motorcycle Association of Yuma to the El Faro Orphanage in Magueria, Mexico. We delivered food to the orphanage and gave rides to the kids. It was a great ride and lots of fun for everyone involved. Click here to see some of the pictures. See below for last year's pictures. |
Tombstone |
We took an overnight ride to Tombstone, AZ, travelling the back roads through Ajo and Sells. What a great ride! It took a couple of hours longer than the freeway but was well worth it. We stopped at the Ajo copper mine. The trips to Bisbee and Tombstone were very interesting and informative but there was too much to see on a weekend. We'll have to go back! Click here for some pictures of the trip. |
| Bar-B-Que April, '07 |
Sometimes it's fun just to get together without the bikes. We had a great BBQ and enjoyed each other's company. |
| Dave Brown Memorial Poker Run March, '07 |
The poker run was a huge success and the organizers wanted everyone to know they really appreciated the great turnout. Over $1000 was raised for the family! |
El Faro Orphanage |
The Christian Motorcycle Association of Yuma invited us to join them on a ride to the El Faro Orphanage in Magueria, Mexico. The CMA holds this annual ride and delivers dry goods to the orphanage. El Faro cares for 20 to 30 children. It was really a geat ride and we had a wonderful time. Click here for pictures of the ride. |
Calexico, CA |
We rode to Calexico but our favorite resturant was closed. One member suggested a "hole-in-the-wall" in El Centro so we headed there. There was no wall, but we were a little skeptical when we rode up. It turned out great - good food and a friendly atmosphere. It's called Camacho's Place, south of town near a big cattle ranch. After lunch we headed back to Yuma through Glamis to take a look at the dune buggies and sand blasters. Lots of nifty toys out there! |
| Grand Canyon Spring Breakaway April, '06 |
We took a trip to the Grand Canyon and up through St. George, Utah. It was a club ride, but there were only two members on the ride. Too bad for the rest of the club, they missed a great ride. |
| Parker, Az March, '06 |
Parker is a picturesque town about 125 miles north of Yuma resting on the banks of the Colorado River. |
| Calexico, Ca February, '06 |
Calexico is a small town on the border of Mexico. It has a very fine restaurant with rooftop dining where we could sit and watch the street below as we enjoyed a fine brunch. |
| Dobson's Museum - Tacna, Az January, '06 |
Dobson's Museum is a re-creation of a wild west town, complete with general store, school house, barber shop and a working blacksmith's shop. There are truckloads of antiques to view and touch. There is a separate display of old BSA and Triumph motorcycles which you can see if your lucky. Click here for photos |
